Watermelon Festival

Image
This past Thursday night Adam, Addison, and I went down to the local Watermelon Festival in Winterville.  It was late so we didn't stay long.  Just long enough to get some "fair food".  We got lucky and timed it just right.  Addison slept the whole time we were there and started crying for a bottle just as we were pulling up in the driveway.  If only it could work out that perfectly every time.  Ha!  Saturday, I decided to take Addison back out to the festival because I wanted to visit the booths.  I love to go to small town fairs and see what the booths have to offer.  Unfortunately, it took me the entire day to get us to the point that we were ready to go.  So, by the time we got out there nearly all the booths were packing up to leave.  Oh well, I didn't need to spend any money anyway.  I didn't get any pictures while we were there, but Aunt Shelly helped us get some pictures afterwards of Addison in her precious watermelon dress that she got at our Burlington

Mini photo shoot #2

Addison is going to get so tired of me taking pictures of her.....but it is soooooo fun!!!!!!!!!!  Here are a few from today....First I dressed her in a little bathing suit.  It was too cute!  I guess she was a little bored... I love these next two.  It looks like she's striking a model pose for the camera.  Ha!.... Sweet baby face!... Happy baby girl... Here's one showing off her birth mark on her belly :)  ... My little red head... And finally, my favorite picture of the day...

Addison playing with transformers?

OK, we really need another girl in the family.  Landon and Peyton already have Addison playing with transformers... Oh well, if she's anything like her mama, she won't be a baby doll kinda gal anyway.

"Walk in His ways"

Another Miracle

My Dad is one tough man!  He has survived a mini stroke and now 4 heart attacks, among many other obstacles.  On Tuesday, August 24, my Dad was outside exercising as usual.  Every day he pulls cement blocks behind him with a chain down a dirt track in the middle of the field behind his house.  Sounds unusual, huh?  Well, my Dad is definitely one of a kind!  He is also hard-headed!  He started this exercise out pulling just one cement block behind him.  He calls me all the time to share his progress with me.  Every time he reaches his goal with one block, he says, "If I could just do one more block I will be happy."  Well, I know my daddy better than that.  He doesn't know when to stop.  That determination is usually a good thing, but in my opinion, he was over-doing it just a little...he was up to 5 blocks!!!  Although I am very proud of him for working out and trying to take care of himself, I hope that he will back off a little now that he has had yet another heart atta

Another BOY cousin

Image
Adam and I announced to our families that we were expecting our first sweet little baby at Christmas time, 2009.  We never would have guessed that just 6 short months later, Adam's sister and her husband would announce that they too were expecting their first little bundle of joy.  I cannot tell you how excited Adam and I were to hear this news!  I have to admit, because Addison already has 4 boy cousins, Landon, Peyton, Connor and Luke, a little part of me was hoping that Amy and Chris would have a girl.  God had a different plan for them, though, because just last week, Amy and Chris learned that they are going to have a boy!  At least Addison will already know how to handle him!  And she will have another boy to look out for her, although I think she'll be pretty darn tough herself.  Amy and Chris are expecting their little boy January 14, 2011 and we can hardly wait to meet him!  Here is a picture of them getting a little practice in with Addison... They are going to be th

One Month Old!

Image
Today Addison is one month old!  It is hard to believe that so much time has gone by already.  She is growing so fast.  In fact, she had her one month appointment today with her pediatrician and she is now 10 lbs, 7 oz. and 21 inches long.  She is in the 75th percentile for both her weight and head circumference and the 50th percentile for her length.  The Doctor said she is "growing beautifully" and ofcourse I agree :)  I had a couple of questions for the pediatrician, but she assured me that everything was normal. The only thing that needs to be addressed is a couple of spots of eczema, one on her right arm and also under her neck.  Hopefully it's nothing a little hydrocortizone won't fix.  She also had her first shot today, the first shot of the Hep B series.  She cried for about 2 seconds, but as soon as mommy picked her up she settled back down :)  She is a little less predictable these days, especially during the day.  I never know when she's going to be h

Addison's first babysitters

Image
This past Saturday night, Adam and I headed out for the first time without our little "butter bean".  Everyone keeps asking me if I cried, but I knew she was safe with Grandma Jane-Jane and Grandpa Gerald, so there were no need for tears.  Plus, they were babysitting at our house and I knew I'd see her in just a few hours, so it wasn't so bad.  We went to Adam's 10 year class reunion and had so much fun!  There was a great crowd there, at the City Hotel and Bistro.  It was so good to see everyone!  I graduated just one year ahead of Adam, so I knew a lot of people at the reunion too, even though it was for the c/o 2000.  Here are a couple of snapshots...I am hoping to get more pictures from Lorie's camera to add to my blog, but this is all I have for now... Me & Adam: Me & Sarah: Me & Lorie: .....thanks to Lorie, I have a few more pics to share...

Getting bigger already!!

Image
Little Miss Addison had her first Dr Appt 4 days after she was born.  At that appointment she weighed 7 lbs, 9 oz. and was 19.5 inches long.  Two weeks later (this past Friday) she had her second Dr Appt.  I knew she would be heavier because she is starting to look and feel bigger, and Lord knows she likes to eat!!  However, I was not expecting her to be 9 lbs, 6 oz and 20 inches long!  My baby is growing right before my very eyes!  She is 3 weeks old today and has already changed so much since she was born.  People are starting to say that she looks more and more like Adam.  From day 1 she hasn't looked at all like her mommy, but that's OK with me... I certainly don't mind if she looks like her daddy :)  She is just starting to get a little big for new born size clothes but not quite big enough for 0-3 month clothes yet.  She sleeps 4 hours at a time at night and takes shorter naps during the day.  She is usually awake for about 2 hours late in the morning and for about  2
