Acid Reflux, and Colic, and Gas...Oh my!

Image
Well, the zantac doesn't seem to be working and our sweet baby boy is not happy!  We took him back to the Dr yesterday.  Although he started spitting up a lot in the last week, he is still gaining weight great.  He was 10 lbs, 4 oz.  The Dr recommended that we now try Prevacid, so this morning we gave him his first dose.  Please pray that this will do the trick!  It is just heartbreaking to see my baby boy in pain!  Thanks!

Addison, 2 Years Old!

Image
Addison Leigh is 2 years old today!  Her dad and I couldn't be more proud of her!  Yes, she can be a typical messy tornado of a child...but we wouldn't have it any other way.  She is unbelievably "growny" these days. She loves to go-go-go!  I swear I don't think she would even sleep if we didn't make her.  Her bedtime has been getting later and later...we must work on that!  She pretty much refuses to use the potty at home now.  We don't push her, though, and won't until she moves up to the next class at her daycare.  The class she is in now will leave them in underwear until nap-time.  Then, after nap, they leave them in a diaper.  Well, Addison doesn't get to school until an hour or two before nap time...so I think we will just wait to get strict with her until they are able to do that at school as well.   Otherwise, it is honestly just too much work right now with the new baby.  Maybe we're lazy...all I know is we do what we can..

Broughton, 1 Month Old

Image
Broughton Adam Beaman is one month old today!  It never ceases to amaze me how time just slips away.  It seems like yesterday when I was blogging about Addison turning one month old...and she will be 2 years old next week!  Crazy! Broughton went to the Dr. yesterday.  He weighed 9 lbs and 15 oz.  Addison was 10 lbs, 7 oz. at one month old.  I think it is so fun to look back and compare.  Broughton finally decided to start taking the Dr Brown bottles with the Dr Brown nipples, so that has been great!  He typically drinks between 2.5-3.5 ounces at a time, but in the last day he has had a few 4 oz bottles.  He still swallows a lot of air and has a lot of gas pains, though...which is why I took him to the Dr.  Mindy and Michelle both told me that he acted like he had acid reflux...and I think they were right.  The Dr said that it definitely sounded like he had acid reflux, according to the things I was describing to him.  He gave us a prescription for zantac.  He said it should

Independence Day, 2012

Image
We spent the evening of July 4th on the Washington waterfront.  Amy, Chris, and Hayden joined in the fun... Addison and Hayden enjoyed looking at the water and all the boats... Broughton, on the other hand, could've cared less about the boats.  He just wanted to sleep and eat... The fireworks started around 9:30.  Before that, we had fun just walking around and letting the kids play... Once the fireworks started, though, it wasn't much fun.  Well, at least it wasn't for us.  Hayden really enjoyed the fireworks.  Addison, to put it lightly, was less than thrilled.  We honestly didn't think she would like the fireworks because she doesn't like ANYTHING loud.  She hates when motorcycles ride by.  She even hates when we use the blender because she knows it's going to be loud.  So, we weren't surprised when she started crying as soon as the fireworks began.  Next time we'll try looking at the fireworks from m

Brother and Sister :)

We weren't too worried about Addison being overly jealous when Broughton arrived because we knew she would want to be a "helper".  She has shown some slight jealousy a few times, but what an awesome big sister she has been!!  She is so proud of her "baby brudder"!  She likes to help feed him his bottle... She also likes to help us when we put Broughton on the changing table to change his diaper.  She pulls up her little chair and stands in it so she can talk to Baby Brother and hand us a clean diaper.  She talks so sweet to him! She likes to bring him toys.  It took her a few days to realize that he can't hold those toys or do much with them, but she still likes to sit them on his lap.  She likes to put a blanket on him too...sometimes too many.  And she likes to bounce him in his bouncy seat...sometimes a little too hard...lol. She, of course, likes to hold Brother... My precious family!... Such a sweet grin...
