Broughton - 3 Months Old!

Image
Broughton turned 3 months old on September 20!  Although our lives have been pretty crazy since his arrival, he is such a blessing!!!  His personality is really coming to life, and thankfully that personality is sooooo sweet!!!  He is such a happy baby!  He smiles with his entire face and has a precious dimple in his right cheek.  When he smiles big his eyes squint a little and it just steals my heart! Addison can pretty much always make him smile and sometimes laugh....unless of course he is crying for a bottle...then the only thing that will make him happy is milk!  He drinks 5-6 ounces at a time, except before bedtime...then he will drink 6-8 ounces!  He almost always sleeps through the night, praise God!  He goes to bed a little late still...usually between 10 and 11, but he doesn't wake-up until around 5:30 or 6:30.  Although this morning he slept until 8:00! He has been sleeping in his crib every night for several weeks now and doesn't have much trouble with the w

Labor Day Weekend at Emerald Isle

Image
I'm not quite sure how we did this...I guess it was just by the grace of God...but somehow me, Addison, and Broughton managed to get ourselves and our millions of bags, clothes, toys, potty, baby seats, etc. to the beach the Friday before Labor Day.  Adam's mom rented a beach-front cottage for the weekend. We were greeted by Jane, Gerald, Amy, Hayden, Dee, Wes, Tanner, and Tison.  Adam and Chris made it down Saturday evening.   Check out the fun that we had... Playing on the beach with Gama... It was a lot of work lugging all of that stuff to the beach, but it was TOTALLY worth it!  We really enjoyed being with family even if it was for just a few short days!  Can't wait to do it again!!!

Just Me and My Girl

Image
I have so much catching up to do with my blog, but I wanted to start with an update to my last post.  First of all, a big Thank-You to everyone that has been so sweet to respond to my last post with advice, support, prayers, encouragement, love, etc.  It truly is easier raising children when you know you have an army of friends and family surrounding you!  I love you all!  And you will be happy to know that my sweet little Addison has been just that....sweet!  I told Adam last Sunday evening that I think Addison must have read my blog because the day after I wrote it (Saturday)  and Sunday, she was sooooooo sweet to me!  Adam said, "No, I think God read your blog.".....I do love him so! Last Saturday, I was determined to have a "Mommy and Me" day with Addison!  Thankfully, Adam was able to stay home with Broughton.  I decided to take her to a local parade and festival, the Collard Festival in Ayden.  On the way there, she wanted to stop at "the blue st

Breastfeeding and a Broken Heart

I don't know where to start.  I have so much running through my mind and just need to get it out.  It starts with breastfeeding...Breastfeeding can be such a beautiful thing, but let me tell you...it causes such a battle inside my head.  Without a doubt I know that breast milk is the best thing for my sweet baby boy.  For that reason, there are days that I tell myself, "I can do this.  Six months, 12 months, just stick with it."  And honestly, if it were just me, Adam, and Broughton, I believe that I could.  But it is not just the three of us.  We have a sweet girl who also needs attention from her mommy.  A sweet girl who sadly has not gotten half the attention she was getting and who is finally starting to take it out on her mommy.  Oh gosh, here come the tears again.  Sigh.  Addison has been the best big sister!  She loves her brother so much and is so sweet to him.  But she is finally starting to show a little jealousy.  With Adam, she just gets whiney when he is hold

A Pool Party and the Watermelon Festival

Image
Pool Party A couple of weeks ago, me and the kiddos went to a pool party!  The party was hosted by one of the "daycare moms" that I am happy to call my friend.  As soon as we got there, Missy wanted to hold Broughton.  Here she is feeding him a bottle... He pretty much got passed around after that for nearly the entire time we were at the party.  I took advantage of the opportunity and was able to just relax a little bit.  Here are a few pictures of the kids enjoying themselves... Gabriella, the hostess, and Addison doing what Addison loves best...swinging!... Addison and Parker swinging... Swimming with Aunt Mimmy... Cooking some "cake"... Landon in the pool... Parker with his cute hat on... Del, Landon, Michael, Addison, and Gabriella stopping for a bite to eat... Addison and Del in Gabriella's ride...this ended about 30 seconds later in the ditch...ha... And this is what she looked like before we could even get
