The Big Birthday Bash
Broughton turned 1 on June 20th and Addison turned 3 on July 26th! We decided to throw them a party together right in the middle of that, on July 14th at my parents' new home. Somehow, by the grace of God, the day was absolutely beautiful, despite the nonstop rain that we had several weeks previous to that day!
I think everyone had a great time! We borrowed Mindy and Michelle's bouncy house, had some sandboxes full of fresh sand and sand toys, Addison's gator, Luke's dune buggy, and other random outdoor toys to play with! Some of the kids also spent some time playing in the bonus room with puzzles and art stuff.
Broughton without a doubt enjoyed his birthday cake! By the time he was done, he was covered in icing from head to toe. I had to give him a quick bath after cake time. Addison also enjoyed her "special" birthday cake made by Gama while everyone else killed the cupcakes.
We asked her a million times what she wanted for her birthday. The only thing she ever said she wanted was a bike. She wanted a "blue bike with a girl on it". I think that was her way of saying she wanted a blue bike, but she still wanted it to look like a girl bike. Well, I think we did pretty good...we found a blue bike with purple streamers and trim and a spot on the back to put her doll. :) This was her first peek at the bike...(thanks for the photo, Lindsey!)
This bike was much bigger than the one she had been riding, so we were surprised when she hopped right on it and took off...

A huge thank-you to all who made the long drive to come celebrate Addison and Broughton's birthdays! And of course, thank-you for the gifts! The kids have been having so much fun with all their new toys! Each and every one of you made this such a special day that we will never forget :)
